He is the Chairman of the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Board of directors and majority shareholder of WWE. After acquiring World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 2001 and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) in 2003, two years after its closure, McMahon's WWE became the sole remaining major American professional wrestling promotion (prior to the national expansion of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling).
