John Franklin Candy (October 31, 1950 – March 4, 1994) was a Canadian comedian and actor. He rose to fame as a member of the Toronto, Ontario branch of The Second City, often playing lovable losers and characters with bad luck but big hearts. Candy died of a heart attack in 1994. His film roles were mostly comedic. Candy's daughter, Jennifer is an actress and television producer, having production credits for the television series Prom Queen and Sam Has 7 Friends.
