Mabel Normand (November 9, 1892 - February 23, 1930) was an American silent film comedienne and actress. She was extremely popular during the 1910s, becoming one of the Big Four at Keystone Studios, which was founded by Mack Sennett with whom she shared a turbulent romantic relationship. Taking part in many screen firsts she was one of the first woman screenwriters, producers, and directors. Onscreen she paired with Charlie Chaplin, who she also wrote and directed for. After he left Keystone she paired with Fatty Arbuckle which proved extremely profitable. |
