Mercedes-Benz is a German manufacturer of luxury automobiles, buses, coaches, and trucks. It is a division of the parent company, Daimler AG and is the world's oldest automobile company, having its origins in Karl Benz's creation of the first automobile in January 1886. A few months after Benz's achievement, Gottlieb Daimler and engineer Wilhelm Maybach also produced an automobile, and in 1901 the first Mercedes vehicle was produced. In 1926, the merging of Karl Benz's and Gottlieb Daimler's companies resulted in the Daimler-Benz company, which produced the first Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has, over the years, introduced many technological and safety innovations that have become common in modern vehicles. |
